Nate has no rep for calling elections anymore because he’s been proven to be a hack so he chooses to gaslight people about crime stats and then wraps it up in some shitty poker analogy that doesn’t hit.

It’s tough to explain the disconnect between stats and “vibes” especially on the subway. The folks who exhibit anti social behavior are looking for targets, they know worst case is catch and release. I take the L train to work 4 days per week and whenever there is a sleepyhead/junky/crazy causing some type of issue on the train, many people just bury their heads in their phones and refuse to look. I think it’s become a humiliation ritual for staunch progressives who continually vote for this behavior to be on full display without consequence. It’s like Frankenstein watching his monster in the wild and pretending not to know him.

Full circle, maybe these voters are the anti social ones.

What's your preferred crime metric? Mine is "expected crime exposure": person-weighted expected crimes within 10 minutes' travel.
